Why not contribute parking funds to police? | Letter

I have to agree with the letter written by Patrick Harris in the Kirkland Reporter on May 26. I have lived in lovely Kirkland for about 50 years. It’s not the same town nor safe like we have always felt to believe.

After reading “Pay parking time changes coming to Lakeshore lot” (Reporter, May 26), it was a big bummer. Now it will feel like Seattle, not quaint Kirkland.

Why not contribute the funds made there to the police — to keep and pay the officers well so they can have the ability to patrol our neighborhoods, help fight crime and promote public safety? Put that paid parking money into our town and bring peace to our homes, streets and families. Especially now with ALL this apartment/condo construction going on, the congestion will be enough stress.
