Big Oil’s ‘Kool-Aid’ | Letter

Voters drank Big Oil’s “Kool-Aid” on Nov. 6 and rejected Initiative 1631.

It goes to show that money can still buy elections.

Big Oil spent a record-breaking $31 million dollars to convince Washington residents that I-1631 was a“tax” on the middle class when in fact it is a fee on the biggest polluters.

We remain beholden to them and they will continue to pollute for free.

We just missed an opportunity to put clean energy on an equal playing field in our state and along with that healthier air and good jobs.

We have once again kicked the can down the road when it comes to work on climate change.

Well, drink up! Big Oil is happy to keep pouring!
