Been saving my bags in anticipation of the ban | Letter

As one of the majority of Kirkland residents who opposed the plastic bag ban, I have been saving my plastic Fred Meyer bags for years in anticipation of the day the ban was shoved down our throats by the City Council.

[This letter is in response to the story] “Businesses, Kirkland residents prepare for plastic bag ban.”

As one of the majority of Kirkland residents who opposed the plastic bag ban, I have been saving my plastic Fred Meyer bags for years in anticipation of the day the ban was shoved down our throats by the City Council.

As Kirkland Municipal Code 16.05.010 only forbids businesses to provide plastic bags to customers, I plan to take my saved bags to the store to carry my purchases.

I feel that this is “creative recycling” and should last me several years. By the way, Fred Meyer management may feel that they have to go along to get along, but their employees freely voice their displeasure with the ban.
