The headline should have been “Legislators stole $900 M for the affluent Eastside” (Reporter, May 10)

While Washington taxpayers (including many Eastsiders) are feeling the sharp pinch and middle-class Washingtonians and small business owners are being pushed to the edge of bankruptcy, the Legislature boasts how they redistribute funds to various pet projects like $9 million for the Lake Washington Institute of Technology.

As I hear stories of despair, homelessness, hopelessness and people leaving our region, an article like this clearly illustrates the tone deaf nature of our Legislature.

Business owners are reeling from the devastation of employer mandates and tax increases and middle-class homeowners and retirees are being driven from their homes as bloated parasitical government gloats over record revenues.
