For Calabrisella Ristorante Italiano house piano player Robin Maiers, bringing performances to the Kirkland restaurant has been a labor of love.

"It's been hard to get this thing started," said Maiers, who managed to produce and promote Calabrisella's third dinner performance, which he hopes will be every bit as successful as the first two performances that were held last month.

The Opera and Musical Theatre event will run for two shows at 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 at 132 Lake St., Kirkland.

Maiers solicited professional and semi-professional singers by going to area music schools and tapping into local talent. In addition, he created most of the repertoire himself.

The program will feature arias by Strauss, Puccini, Weber, Rossini, Mozart and more, as well as songs from "My Fair Lady," "Kiss Me Kate," "West Side Story," "Secret Garden" and more.

"It really is going to be wonderful," Maiers said of the upcoming performance. "This has given singers and performers a venue."

One of those singers is 15-year-old Giselle Gonzales of Redmond. Her mother, Georgia, bumped into Maiers while she was shopping in Kirkland.

Giselle will perform "Till There Was You" from "The Music Man,""I Could Have Danced All Night," from "My Fair Lady" and more.

Maiers says he hopes the Eastside will recognize and support this unique undertaking that pairs a local business with local talent.
