The Pacific Sound Chorus captured first place at the regional/state Sweet Adelines International chorus competition held Saturday, April 4, in Spokane. As state and regional champions they will advance to the international competition, which will take place during October of 2010 in Seattle where the chorus will compete against more than 30 of the top regional winners of Sweet Adelines International choruses from around the world.

The chorus was judged in four categories: sound, music, expression and showmanship and their total score exceeded their competitors, placing them at number one in their region and offering them the extraordinary opportunity to compete for the International gold.

Leading Pacific Sound to victory was director, Susan Kegley. Kegley has directed the Pacific Sound Chorus for just two years. Since chartering in January of 1990, the Pacific Sound Chorus has had the opportunity to compete in several regional competitions and have placed in the coveted top ten at the international level. This dynamic ensemble performed onstage and wowed the judges and audience with its creative and musical entertainment package.

The Pacific Sound Chorus members range in age from women in their twenties to their seventies who all share a love for music and singing four-part a cappella harmony. This chorus welcomes women of all ages and diversity. Kirkland residents include: Carol Drew, Gayle Robinson, Rebecca Bell, Cynthia Doyer, Joani Teutsch, Juanita Harwood, and Lynn Greissl.

The chorus holds weekly rehearsals on Tuesday evenings. To learn more about Pacific Sound Chorus International, visit
