Road closures in Kirkland for resurfacing
August 2, 2012 · 10:50 AM
The City of Kirkland will be resurfacing several streets in Kirkland with slurry seal resulting in some road closures between approximately Aug. 6-10 in the Evergreen Hill/Kingsgate, North Rose Hill and South Rose Hill/Bridle Trails neighborhoods.
Construction is scheduled to begin Aug. 6 and is estimated to be completed within one week. Typical hours of operation are Monday-Friday 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Many factors, including weather, could influence the actual days the work is being done.
The contractor will deliver door hangers to homes and businesses and install “No Parking” signs at least within 24 hours of the work being done on each street. Once the street is closed, no one will be able to drive into or pull out of their driveway. Residents and businesses are asked to park their car outside the work-zone on a nearby street ahead of time.
Notices will be distributed to all adjacent residents and businesses within 24 hours prior to road closure. Cars will be allowed to drive in and out of driveways and on the street until 8 a.m., at which time the road will be closed to all traffic. The specific time a street is treated depends upon the schedule of streets for that day. Check the City’s web site or call the construction hotline a few days prior to the Slurry Seal to see the schedule of streets for each day. Once the slurry seal application has cured (dried), the barricades and signs blocking the road will be removed and the road will be opened.
Slurry seal is a thick cold liquid mixture of asphalt and fine rock (pre-mixed) applied to the existing asphalt surface.
