Young artists needed for exhibit at Kirkland SummerFest
August 1, 2012 · Updated 12:16 PM
Young artists are needed for an exhibition at Kirkland SummerFest, which will take place Aug. 10-11. The Young Artist Exhibit is the part of SummerFest and will display artwork created by youth in the area. The goal of this exhibit is to provide a showcase that celebrates the talents and creative expressions of our young artists. The participating youth will range from preschool age to 18 years old.
SummerFest organizers encourage all young artists to create a piece that relates to the theme chosen for Summerfest: “summertime”.
Artwork will be judged on the following criteria: originality, technique, composition, risk-taking and craftsmanship. Ribbons will be awarded to entries in each age category (under age 7, 7-12, 13-18). Mediums include oil, acrylic, and watercolor paint, charcoal, pastel, ink, crayon, print work, photography, textiles, clay, fused glass, wood and recycled materials. The size for flatwork should not exceed 24-inches by 36-inches.
Please bring artwork to the designated exhibit space at Marina Park on Saturday, Aug. 11 beginning at 8:30 a.m. Artwork will need to be picked up after 5 p.m. at the conclusion of Summerfest.
To submit artwork for the event, contact Carol Belval at Belval.firstname.lastname@example.org before August 6th to reserve a space in the exhibit.
