Kirkland based consumer electronic product design and development firm Nytec had another successful year for their annual pet food drive. The firm’s more than 300 engineers donated 600 cans of dog and cat food, 25 bags of food, pet toys and other assorted supplies. The estimated value of all donations totals more than $1,500.

“It’s really heartwarming to see the support of the Shelter and we are lucky to have such generous employees,” said Nytec Marketing Coordinator Alexandra Dorsett. “Many homeless pets will have a happier Holiday this year and I am thrilled the momentum continued from 2012.”

The Seattle Animal Shelter is an organization that has become special to Nytec and their employees. For many years the position of “Director of Human Relations” was held by a small Maltese named Piglet, who became a familiar face for many. While the position is now empty, the food drive is a way to remember the companies’ unofficial mascot. The holidays can be a tough time for shelters and Nytec is proud to assist with the non-profit’s mission of helping 6,000 area animals a year.

Nytec is a heavy supporter of local charities through their corporate outreach program, and plans to continue to have the pet food drive be a signature Holiday program.
